A retail fit-out fails or succeeds on coordination. Drawings arrive late, a landlord condition changes, shopfront glass slips two weeks, and a trading date that looked comfortable becomes a night-shift scramble. FortisCo is appointed to hold that programme together: one accountable project lead who owns the brief, the sequence, the interfaces and the reporting from the day of appointment to final handover.
We work either directly for the retailer, restaurant group or property owner as client-side project manager, or alongside an appointed shopfitting, joinery or construction partner as their project coordinator. In both cases FortisCo manages the process — we are not the builder, architect, engineer or quantity surveyor, and we do not price or perform the construction work.
Typical appointments cover new stores, revamps carried out while the store keeps trading, refurbishments, reinstatements at lease end, and rollouts of a repeated store format across several sites.

Where we work.
FortisCo takes fit-out appointments across South Africa, with concentrated activity in Gauteng, and has delivered projects in Namibia and Botswana.
For sites outside Gauteng we plan the appointment around scheduled site visits and remote coordination, and we agree the visit frequency up front so travel is budgeted rather than assumed.

- No. FortisCo is not a builder, architect, engineer or quantity surveyor. We provide project management and coordination; design, manufacturing, engineering and construction are performed by appointed qualified specialists.
- Can you run a revamp while the store keeps trading?
- Yes. Trading revamps are usually run on night shifts with agreed clean-down and reinstatement each morning, tight trade sequencing and daily coordination with store and centre management.
- How is the appointment structured?
- Either directly by the client as its project representative, as an outsourced or embedded project manager, or as a specialist subconsultant to a development, construction or shopfitting company.
- How do we start?
- With a scoping call. We confirm the site, programme, budget band and the parties already appointed, then set out the scope and fee basis in writing.
